At Southsea House, with many thanks to our hosts James and Janet Clear. The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed a delicious selection of barbecued meats, bread and homemade salads and puddings. The bar served wine, real ale, lager and soft drinks, and we had a raffle.

Followed by live music from The Kingston Blues Band featuring Val Sinclair.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this such an enjoyable occasion

Advance booking only: no tickets will be available on the door because catering has to be planned in advance..

Village Cream Tea and Church Gift Day - Saturday 8th July

Church tower open from 2pm (over 12's only)

Bring your teddy and make his parachute in the church from 2pm; Teddy bear parachuting from 5.15pm

Everything is free. Please enjoy yourself, and donate generously to the church.

Ride, Stride or Drive - Saturday 10th September

This annual event is organised by the Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust. Participants are sponsored for every place of worship they visit by cycle, horse, bus, car or on foot during the Day. Half of the money raised by Kingston goes to the Trust, half to the Kingston Church Restoration Fund.

Village Hall Grand Re-Opening - Saturday 17th October

Huge numbers of villagers turned out to check out the work on the hall, to have a drink, and enjoy a jacket potato meal. The opening ceremony featured Jonathan Park (BBC Look East), and a few words from the Village Hall chairman Mark Stalham. Filming by Torrie Smith (a video for our sponsors).

Village Apple Weekend -Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October

Help to pick apples in the Village Orchard, fill up the boxes in the orchard. The apples will be turned into juice to be sold at future Village Pub Nights. Money raised will go towards village projects.

'Bourn Free' controlling Himalayan Balsam - Sunday 2nd August

Kingston Old Railway This was a Wildlife Trust activity, carrying out work to control non-native invasive species of fauna and flora that threaten the Bourn Brook, volunteers very welcome.

Church Tower Open Day with tower climbing (over 12s only), cream teas in The Orchard and the Teddy Bear parachute jump.

A chance to have a drink and hear reports about the various acitvites in the village over the past year.

Choral Concert - Friday 1st May

Wonderful singing in Kingston Church by The Gesualdo Six of music from the Rennaisance. Drinks and delicious canapés were also provided to the sellout audience, and there was plenty of opportunity to admire the medieval wall paintings. Fundraising for Kingston Church.

Open Garden - Good Friday 3rd April

At The Old Rectory 2.30-4.30pm Easter egg hunt for children, with profits to Wood Green.

Our annual quizzing extravaganza, with our popular quizmasters Mark and Helen Underwood. The hall was packed full for loud, good-natured fun with friends and neighbours, lots of tricky questions, a bar, and fish and chips. Raising money for the village hall.

Village Plant Sale - Saturday 10th May

Pat Draper, ably abetted by Torrie Smith, organised a very successful plant and produce sale which has raised £500 for the Village Hall funds. Thank you to the committee members who helped in so many ways and to Jill Coleman who ran the coffee and cake stall. Also, a very big thank you to all of you villagers who supported us with plants, fantastic cakes and produce and to those who came and purchased on the day. Helen Underwood brought along a delicious range of bread (watch this space!) Finally, our thanks to Morrisons for donating £30 worth of flowers and plants for the raffle.
