Ride and Stride

Saturday 9th September

Ride and Stride traditionally involves people being sponsored to walk or cycle to as many churches as possible in one day. But there are other ways you can take part, from travelling on horse or by canoe, to holding an event or spending an afternoon exploring the wildlife in a churchyard and donating money. Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust https://camhct.uk/ride-and-stride/

The Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust has helped Kingston recently with a grant of £3,000 and an interest-free loan of £20,000. It would be good if we were able to reciprocate with a special effort this year. Half the sponsorship raised goes to the Trust and half to Kingston church’s Restoration Fund. If you would like to ride or stride, please contact Peter Reynolds.

Annual Church Meetings

Tuesday 28th March at 7.30pm

In the parish church of All Saints and St Andrew.

The annual church meetings consist of, firstly, the Annual Meeting of Parishioners for the purpose of

electing two churchwardens and, secondly, the Annual Parochial Church Meeting for the purpose of

electing the officers and members of the Parochial Church Council, and to receive annual reports,

including the presentation of the church’s annual accounts.

At present there are no candidates for election as churchwarden and only two for election to the PCC. The future of the church in Kingston is now gravely in doubt. This ironically at a time when we have raised very nearly the full sum of around £140,000 to carry out extensive repairs to the church building, which are due to commence on the 1st August this year, thanks to the generosity of the people of Kingston who have responded to our fund raising appeals over the last three or four years.

If you have any interest in the future of your parish church, please consider attending these meetings, whether or not you wish to stand for election, and irrespective of your own beliefs. All are very welcome to attend.
